What can we do to protect and preserve our Forests?

Limit the use of Off Road Vehicles.

National forest lands should be closed to Off Road Vehicles use except on designated routes.

Off Road Vehicles should be permitted only where the Forest Service can demonstrate that ORV use will do no harm to the natural values, wildlife, ecosystem function, and quality of experience for other recreationists.

Develop new systems for fighting forrest fires.

Eliminate the leasing of National Forest land for logging to any corporation or private party.

More than 60 million people in 3,400 communities and 33 states obtain their drinking water from national forest lands provided and maintained by the National Forest System. This makes the Forests kind of important to everyone.

Residents in the interior Pacific Northwest consider watershed protection to be the most important use of federal lands.

Watershed health and restoration should be the “overriding priority” of all future forest plans.

We should attempt to actively restore the integrity of degraded watersheds throughout the national forests.

Continually improve the harvesting and re forestation process to prevent degradation of the ecosystem.

 Designate wilderness areas.
