In the past, universities enjoyed a monopoly over advanced education because of geographical location and their control of the accreditation of academic programs necessary for awarding degrees.

The internet has made immense amounts of information freely available available to all.

Institutions should transform themselves from faculty-centered to learner-centered institutions.

Universities must become far more affordable, society no longer will tolerate the high-cost model of today.

Education is long term the concept of student and alumnus should merge as students need to keep their knowledge up to date.

Adapt to Online classes and MOOCs which could make bricks and mortar schools irrelevant, especially when the costs of bricks and mortar are ever increasing.

New universities with tiny campuses all over the place instead of large campuses. Where discussion style classes and labs would take place. Lectures would be delivered electronically from a virtual internet campus.

Adapt to new interactive and collaborative technologies.
